Unit Converter
Pick what you want to convert, choose the two units and type a number. The result updates as you type, the formula is shown underneath, and the table below the boxes gives the same value in every other unit of that kind. Length, weight, volume, speed, time, temperature, area, data storage, pressure, fuel economy and energy are all here.
1 mile = 1.609344 kilometers. Formula: km = mi × 1.609344 (or mi ÷ 0.62137119)

Conversions that need more than a factor
Some searches pair two different kinds of measurement. Kilograms to liters (or gallons to kilograms) depends on density, so the kg to liter converter includes a substance list. Feet to square feet needs a length and a width: multiply them, then use the area converter for square meters or gaj. Kilograms to newtons is a mass-to-force conversion using standard gravity, covered on the kg to newton page. Currency, language and file-format conversions are outside the scope of this site.
Frequently asked questions
How do I use the unit converter?
Choose the measurement type (length, weight and so on), pick the unit you have and the unit you want, and type the number. You can type in either box, and the swap button reverses the direction. The formula line shows the factor so you can repeat the sum by hand.
Does it use US or UK gallons and fluid ounces?
Both are listed separately. The US gallon is 3.785 liters and the imperial (UK) gallon is 4.546 liters, and the fluid ounces differ slightly too, so pick the one that matches your recipe or fuel receipt.
Are results rounded?
Results show up to eight significant digits, which is more precision than any everyday measurement needs. The factors themselves are stored exactly, so rounding only happens at display time.
Can I convert between metric and binary data units?
Yes. The data storage converter includes decimal units (KB, MB, GB, TB, in steps of 1,000) and binary units (KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB, in steps of 1,024), so you can see why a 1 TB drive shows as about 931 GiB.
