Why storage sizes never seem to match
Drive makers, phone specs and internet plans use decimal units: 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes. Windows and many apps count in binary (1 GiB = 1,073,741,824 bytes) but label it GB. The two differ by 2.4% at kilo, 4.9% at mega, 7.4% at giga and 10% at tera. Neither is wrong, but mixing them produces the familiar missing space. Internet speeds add one more twist: they are quoted in megabits per second, and a byte is 8 bits, so a 100 Mbps connection downloads at most 12.5 MB per second.

How many MB are in a GB?

How many GB are in a TB?
1,000 GB. A 2 TB drive holds 2,000 GB, which an operating system counting in binary displays as about 1,863 GiB.
What is the difference between MB and Mb?
MB is megabytes (storage) and Mb is megabits (network speed). There are 8 bits in a byte, so 80 Mb is 10 MB.
How many photos fit in a gigabyte?
Roughly 250 to 350 phone photos at 3 to 4 MB each, or about 10 minutes of 1080p video at a typical bitrate.
