Temperature Converter
Convert between Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin. Unlike other units, temperature scales have different zero points, so the conversion uses an offset as well as a ratio: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32, and K = °C + 273.15.
1 celsius = 33.8 degrees Fahrenheit. Formula: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32

Temperature units on this page
| Unit | Symbol | 1 unit equals |
|---|---|---|
| Celsius | °C | base scale |
| Fahrenheit | °F | (°F − 32) × 5/9 °C |
| Kelvin | K | K − 273.15 °C |
To convert, the value is first expressed in the base unit and then divided by the factor of the target unit, so any pair of units on this page can be converted in one step.

A quick weather estimate: double the Celsius figure and add 30. 20 °C becomes about 70 °F (exact: 68 °F). For Fahrenheit to Celsius, subtract 30 and halve. The dedicated Celsius to Fahrenheit and Fahrenheit to Celsius pages have full charts.
Frequently asked questions
What is the formula for Celsius to Fahrenheit?
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32. So 25 °C = 25 × 1.8 + 32 = 77 °F. The reverse is °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9.
What is the difference between Celsius and Kelvin?
They use the same size of degree, but Kelvin starts at absolute zero. K = °C + 273.15, so 25 °C is 298.15 K. Kelvin has no negative values and no degree sign.
Why is −40 the same in Celsius and Fahrenheit?
Because the two scales have different zero points and different degree sizes, their lines cross at exactly one point. Solving x = x × 9/5 + 32 gives x = −40.
What is 350 °F in Celsius?
176.67 °C, usually rounded to 175 or 180 °C in recipes. Oven conversions rarely need to be exact.
